Mrs. Henry Schierholz is Dead

Passed away Saturday Evening at Her Home after a Protracted Illness

Mrs. Henry Schierholz answered the summons of death Saturday afternoon at 5:45 at her home in Paullina. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:45 from the home and two o'clcok from the Zion Lutheran church, Rev. A. H. Semmann being the officiating clergyman. Interment was at Prairie View Cemetery.

It was the lot of Mrs. Schierholz to suffer through a protracted illness of more than a year. Previous to last August, she had at times felt that something was materially wrong. A consultation with physicians determined that she was afflicted with a cancer. In August last summer she underwent an operation. The skill of the physicians was unavailing. The dread all-meat had taken such a hold upon her that its ravages could not be stayed. Throughout her sickness, she was patient and enduring. She endured her pain and discomfort without complaint.

Mrs. Dorothea Schierholz, nee Rohwer was born in Tama county, Ia., September 10, 1872, as the seventh of twelve children to Mr. and Mrs. Juergen Rohwer. At the age of twelve years, she came to O'Brien county with her parents and has since remained here in the county. At the time of her death she was fifty-two years, five months and eleven days of age.

On January 17, 1900, she was united in holy wedlock with Mr. Hy Schierholz. This happy uniton was blessed with two children, namely two daughters, Mrs. Arthur Stearn and Mabel, of Paullina.

Mrs. Schierholz was of a quiet, pleasing disposition and enjoyed the best of health until about a year ago, when a very serious illness gradually crept upon her. In August of last year, she was operated upon and it was hoped that a cure would be effected, but the desired results were not attained. The malady continued and increased very greatly as time passed on. Nothing was left untried but all was of no avail. Her pains became more acute, the suffering almost unbearable, particularly during the last five weeks.

She was filled with an ardent desire to be taken away from this place of sowrrow and suffering to her real home above. That was her continuous wish and her constant prayer. Her wish was fulfilled last Saturday evening shortly before 6 o'clock, when the angels carried her soul into Abraham's bosom, as we confident hope. She attained the age of 52 year, 5 months and 11 days.

Her departure is mourned by her bereaved husband, two children, one son-in-law, two grandchildren, four brothers, four sisters and many other more distant relatives and a host of friends.

The immediate relatives who survive the decead are, the husband Henry Schierholz and two daughters, Mrs. Arthur Stearn and Mabel, of Paullina; four brothers, John Rohwer of Rushmore, Minn.; Rudolpgh and Beh Rohwer of Paullina and Herman Rohwer of Gaza; four sisters: Mrs. D.B. Harrington of Monrningside; Mrs. Annie Jenner of Sutherland; Mrs. Fred Hilbert of Paullina dn Mrs. Matie Mehrens of Hartley.
