Emmett Test, Resident of Community 37 Years, Buried Here Saturday

Emmett D. Test, 71, well-known O'Brien county farmer who came to this community 37 years ago, died Oct 29 in a Fort Dodge hosptal and was buried here Saturday afternoon following services at the Presbyterian church. Interment took place in Prairie View cemetery. Mr. Test had gone to the hospital for a major operation. However, as his condition grew rapidly worse, little hope was held for his recovery. Death came but to weeks after entering the hospital.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev L. R. Middents. Mrs. M D Shankland and Mrs. Har­old DeJong sang two selections, "Jesus, Saviour, Pilot Me" and "The Old Rugged Cross." They were accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Marvin Smith Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Thompson, Mrs. Abel Thompson and Mrs Herman Jacobs were in charge of the flowers.

Mr Test came to O'Brien county in 1910 and farmed north­east of town until he retired 10 years ago and made his home in Paullina. He is survived by his wife and seven children.

OBITUARY

Emmett Daniel Test, son of John and Martha E. Test, was born at Salem, Ohio, Sept. 18, 187G and died Oct. 29, 1947 at the age of 71 years. His parents moved to Marshall county when he was two years old. He attended school at New Providence and at the Friends school at Le Grand. On June 20, 1900 he was married to Bertha J. Thompson of Dunbar, Iowa. They farmed in Marshall county until 1910, then moved to O'Brien county, where he lived until the time of his death.

Surviving are his wife, and seven children: Lowell B. Test of Livermore, Mrs. M. I. Welty of Albert City, Earl J. Test of Paullina, Mrs. Kenneth Medhus of Paullina, Mrs. Monroe Mathison of Canton, S. D., Mrs. C B. Gilliland of Arlington, Va., and Ray Test of Washington, D. C; six grandchildren,
Patricia and Earl Welty, Sybil Ann Test John and Steven Test and Barbara Gilliland; and two sisters, Bertha Test and Mrs. Earl Branson of Pasadena, Calif.

Relatives and friends from a distance, who attended the funeral were Mrs. Lizzie Thompson of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Nettie Knudson, Arthur Knudson, Mrs. Louie Knudson, Mrs. Joe Wehrman, Mrs. Leland Keen and Clement Thompson of Marshalltown, Mrs. Orville Specht of Conrad, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Tjossem of Le Grand, Mrs. Art Recce, Charlie Brindle, Mr. and Mrs. W. Martin of Union, Mr. and Mrs. John Thiesen of Lakefield, Minn, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Rohrpaugh of Sioux City.
