Funeral Service Held For Wallace Rockwell

Wallace Rockwell, long time resident of Sutherland and the area, passed away unexpectedly Monday morning, November 12, 1973, at his home in Sutherland, from an apparent heart attack. Funeral services were held Wed­nesday morning, November 14, ,at 10:30 in the Friends Meeting House in Mapleside, with burial in the Friends' Cemetery.

WALLACE ROCKWELL

Wallace Rockwell, son of Lewis and Olive Moffett [sic] Rockwell, was born at rural Paullina, Iowa on February 23, 1894. He grew to young manhood and attended the Friends school near Paullina, Iowa. He was a lifelong member of the Society of Friends. He lived in O'Brien County his entire life and farmed in the Paullina, Iowa vicinity until 1947 when he moved to Sutherland, Iowa. He lived there until the time of his sudden death on November 12, 1973, at the age of 79 years, 8 months and 21 days.

He is survived by four sisters, Esther (Mrs. William Workman) aF Delta, Iowa, Mrs. Emily Stoughton of Iowa City, Iowa, Mary (Mrs. Norman Purinton) of Sutherland, Iowa and Mildred (Mrs. Arnold Hoge) of Costa Rica, Central America; one brother, Milton Rockwell of Paullina, Iowa and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Abner.
