Mary R. Purinton, 94, of Fort Collins, Colorado, died December 22, 2000 at Fort Collins. A graveside service for the interment of her cremated remains will be held in late summer, 2001 in the Sutherland Cemetery in Sutherland.
She was born in Paullina, Iowa, on March 16, 1906, the daughter of Lewis and Olive (Moffitt) Rockwell. She graduated from Friends Boarding High School and attended Penn College in Iowa.
She married Norman John Purinton on November 10, 1930 in Springfield, Mass. He died on March 16, 1974.
Mary was a former resident of Sutherland where she was a member of the Methodist Church. She had resided in Fort Collins since 1977. She was a lifelong homemaker. Survivors include her son Eldon Purinton, Glen Haven, CO; one granddaughter and two greatgrandchildren.
