GLENN DUMMETT

Glenn Dummett, son of Elmer and Ruby Dummett, was born in Franklin Township near Sanborn on December 26, 1899. He attended rural school there and later attended Mankato Business College at Mankato, Minn.

He was united in marriage to Gladys Vrooman of Sanborn, Ia. on December 26, 1918 at Sanborn.
After their marriage, they farmed on his grandfather's farm until 1926 when they moved to Sanborn where he was employed by the Town of Sanborn until 1939. He was employed at Leonard Hardware of Sanborn from 1939 to 1947 when the family moved to Sheldon where he was employed as the manager of the Farmer's Coop Store. They returned to Sanborn in 1950 and operated Glenn's Hardware until, he retired in 1965. The past two years he spent as Park Superintendent for the town of Sanborn.

He passed away suddenly at his home on Sunday, October 11, 1970 at the age of 70 years, 9 months and 15 days.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys, of Sanborn; one son, Virgil W. of Boone; two daughters, Lavonne, (Mrs. Raymond Porth) of Sanborn and Lillian, (Mrs. James Wilson) of Rock Valley; fourteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren; five brothers, Verne of Sanborn, Lester of Jenkinsville, S. C., Donald of Sioux Center, Emery of Mitchell, S. D., and Emmett of Sanborn; two sisters, Margie, (Mrs. Gail Pitts) of Bellflower, Calif., and Wilma, Mrs. Clarence Swanson of Dayton, Ia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Richard Glenn, one brother, Dwaine and one sister, Lois.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sanborn.
