Funeral services for Gayle Melvin Holtz, 21, of Eagle Lake; Minn., formerly of Hartley, were held Tuesday morning from the United Methodist Church of Hartley. The Rev. Keith L. Scott offic­iated. Burial was at Pleasant View Cemetery at Hartley, Jake Moermond sang "How Great Thou Art" and "The Old Rugged Cross", accompanied by Mrs. Paul Linder at the or­gan. Bearers were Ron Swanson Noel McCarty, David Hennings Pat Ferguson, Kenneth Kern and Randy Bobolz.

Mr. Holtz died Sunday morning when struck by a car near Mankato, Minn. He was born January 20, 1951 at Hartley to Melvin and Velma Rost Holtz. He was a graduate of Hartley High School where he played in the band and was active in mixed chorus. He played foot­ball for his high school, was member of the MYF and sang in the church choir at Hartley. Mr. Holtz attended Ellsworth Junior College at Iowa Falls two years where he was active in mixed chorus. After graduating from Ellsworth, he at­tended Mankato State College for one year. He was employed as assist­ant floor manager at Goldfine's furniture in Mankato at the time of his death.

Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Holtz of Spencer; a brother, Doug Holtz and a sister, Peggy Holtz, both of Spencer, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rost of Hartley.
