Violet Mae Gonnerman the daughter of Fredrich and Dorthea (Salmon) Kracht was born in Crofton, NE on January 26, 1930. She grew up in the Crofton area and attended school there until her family moved to the Spencer area where she attended Spencer Public School and graduated in 1946.
On August 10, 1952 Violet was united in marriage to Duane “Bud” Gonnerman at the United Methodist Church in Spencer, IA. To this union four children were born Rodney, Donna, Dennis and Neil. Following their marriage the couple lived in Hartley, Peterson, Royal, and the Rossie area for many years. Besides being a mother and a housewife, Violet worked as a secretary and a receptionist for Dr. Dean King and later at the Department of Social Services in Spencer.
On Friday morning of September, 10, 2010 Violet passed away at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, IA at the age of 80.
Violet was a member of the United Methodist Church of Royal, where she was active in church circle and served as church secretary. She enjoyed writing poems, playing cards, playing board games with family, and reading.
Left to cherish her memory are three sons: Rodney Gonnerman and his wife, Sandra, of Lincoln, NE, Dennis Gonnerman and his wife, Terri, of Des Moines, IA, Neil Gonnerman and his wife, Dianne, of Sioux City, IA; one daughter: Donna Gonnerman currently living on the family farm; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two brothers: Duane Kracht and his wife, Kay, of Rossie, IA and Donnie Kracht and his special friend, Phyllis Lowe, of Spirit Lake, IA; two sisters: Daloris Kracht of Rossie, IA and Doris Ann Wilson and her husband Earl of Sierra Vista, AZ; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant brother Donald D., and a great granddaughter Hannah Mumm.
