MAX GLENN ROBINSON 1910 — 1997
Max Glenn Robinson, the son of William and Mabel (Richardson) Robinson, was born near Remsen, Ia. on March 11, 1910. He lived his youth in the Remsen, Aurelia. and Paullina areas. He attended high school in Paulllna where he participated in football and was selected to be on the All State football team for two years.
Max was united in marriage to Esther Brandt on October 7, 1933. Following their marriage they lived in the Paullina, Primghar and May City areas prior to moving to Melvin in 1961 where they began a bowling alley. In 1964 they moved to Hartley where he was employed at Ketelson Hardware.
Esther died on July 25, 1983. Max became a resident of the Mann Wing of the Community Memorial Health Center at Hartley, Iowa on August 27, 1996 and he died there on January 26. 1997, at the age of 86 years, 10 months and 15 days.
He is survived by his children: Wilma and Don Boldt of Kinston, N.C., Rev. William and Cora Robinson of Random Lake, Wise, and Margaret and Roger Remmers of Melvin, Ia.: one granddaughter, six grandsons, six greatgrandchildren, and one sister, Lois Hiders of Independence, la.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters, and one brother.
Max was a member of St Paul's Lutheran Church at Hartley and was a former member of the Lutheran Layman's League. Max was a sports enthusiast and an avid bowler. He organized a bowling team in 1941 and those men bowled together for over 30 years at Lake Park, May City, Melvin and Hartley. That team won many individual and team bowilng tournaments.
Max will also be remembered by his family and friends for his terrific sense of humor.
Funeral services were held January 29 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hartley, with Pastor David Ericksen officiating. Casket bearers were Don Rasmussen. Rlchrd Rieck, Larry Klatt, Jim Norton. Richard Keene and Terry Hilbert. Congregational hymns were "My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less" and "Abide With Me." Patty Treimer was organist Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Primghar, with the Sanborn Funeral Heme in charge.
