SERVICES HELD FOR ALBERT ZINN
Funeral services in memory of Albert Zinn were held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley on Thursday afternoon, September 29. Rev. John Schauer officiated. Burial was at the Pleasant View Cemetery at Hartley, with the Baumgarten Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. The casket bearers were Gaylen Tapper, Rick Florke, Kevin Zinn, Robert Buenger, Brian Elgersma and Kelly Zinn and Joel Buenger.
Albert William Zinn, the son of Julius and Ida Hoffman Zinn, was born September 13, 1894 on a farm south of Hartley, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed in the Grant Township Lutheran Church. He served in the United States Army during World War One.
He was united in marriage to Ida Peters on January 24, 1923 at the bride's home near Hartley. They farmed in several communities including Hartley, Sutherland and Alta, moving back to Hartley in 1951 and retiring to live in town in 1965.
He had been a resident of the Mann Memorial Wing since 1980. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Hartley.
He passed away at the Mann Wing on September 26, 1983 at the age of 89.
Preceding him in death were his parents, an infant son, three brothers and two sisters.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ida; four daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Arlene) Tapper of Akron, Mrs. Bernhard (Elaine) Buenger of Cherokee, Mrs. Albert (Bernadean) Florke of Spencer and Mrs. John (Beverly) El[illegible] of Hartley; two sons, Forrest of Arcadia, California and Kenneth of Lake Park; fifteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Selma Hein and Mrs. John (Sadie) Meiske, both of Hartley, as well as other relatives and friends.
