Funeral services were held on Friday April 8th for Mrs. Julius Zinn at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley, Rev. A. C. Weber, pastor officiating.
Mrs. Julius Zinn, nee Ida Adeline Hoffman, was born on January 13, 1867, in Carlsbach, Germany, and was baptized in infancy and was received as a communicant member of the Lutheran church by the rite of Confirmation on April 10, 1881.
In the year 1884 she came to America where she was employed at South Bend, Ind., and at Niles, Mich.
On March 14, 1886, she was united in marriage at Storm Lake, Iowa, with Julius Zinn, who survives her. Their first home was on a farm in that vicinity. In the year 1892 she moved with her husband and family to a farm five miles south of Hartley and two years later they moved to the farm south of town which they had purchased and which became the home place until the deceased and her husband moved to Hartley 28 years later, in the year 1921.
In the year 1936 they were privileged to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary, and this year their 63rd wedding anniversary.
The deceased was the mother of eight children; four sons and four daughters, six of whom are still living. One son died in infancy and another son, Ludwig, departed this life on December 13, 1924, at the age of 35 years.
The surviving children are Elsie (Mrs. Gus Steuck) of Primghar, Albert of Sutherland, Louise (Mrs. Edward Riedemann), Paul, Selma (Mrs. Rudolf Hein) and Sadie (Mrs. John Meiske),all of Hartley. In addition to her widower and children, surviving mourners are 17 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. E. Thusius of Watertown, Wise, and Mrs. Martha Marquardt of South Bend, Ind., and many other relatives and a host of friends. She was a faithful wife and a good mother and a faithful member of the local Lutheran church.
Music was furnished by a quartet consisting of Mrs. Ben Henning, Mrs. Cloy Hirt, A. C. Hoper and Herbert Weber, accompanied by Mrs. Henry Baumgarn at the organ.
Pall bearers were six grandsons: Jay Meiske, and John Meiske, Jr., Forrest Zinn, Irvin Riedemann, Elmer Steuck and Clarence Hein. Interment was in Pleasant View cemetery at Hartley.
