Services held for Selma Hein
Services in memory of Selma Hein were held 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 30, 1987 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hartley, Iowa. Reverend John Schauer officiated. Casket bearers were Jeff Durst, Joel Hein, Craig Hein, Kenneth Zinn, Ed Harders and Ron Lefever. Honorary casket attendants were Calvin Foster, Carter Foster and Fred Glaser. Committal service was held in Pleasant View Cemetery, Hartley, Iowa.
Selma Henrietta Hein, the daughter of Julius and Ida Hoffman Zinn, was born in O'Brien County, Iowa near Hartley on February 23, 1903. She was educated in rural school near her childhood home.
She was united in marriage to Rudy Hein on February 23, 1921 at Hartley, and they farmed near Hartley. She was a member of St Paul's Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid.
She passed away at Sioux City, Iowa on November 27, 1987 at the age of 84 after a long illness.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband in 1965, one son, Clarence in 1981, a grandson, Bruce Hein in 1980, a great-grandson, Chad Hein in 1974. three brothers, Paul, Albert and Louie, and two sisters, Elsie and Louise.
Left to cherish her memory are one son and his wife. Orlin and Dorothy of Hartley; two daughters and their husbands, Marlys and Ivan Foster of New Rockford, North Dakota, Teresa and Denny Durst of Warsaw. Indiana; one daughter-in-law, Jean Hein of Hartley: eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. John (Sadie) Meiske of Hartley; other relatives and friends.
