Emil Hattermann, the son of Herman and Catherine Hattermann, was born in Caledonia Twp., O'Brien Co, Iowa. He was baptized, educated and Confirmed at St. John's in Germantown. On January 30, 1916 he was united in marriage to Adella Pauling. To this union five children were born. Emil and Adella farmed in the Germantown area from 1916 to 1949. It was at this time they retired and moved to Germantown. Emil served as janitor of the church for about twenty years. During this past year Emil and his wife Adella entered the Wide View Rest Home where they lived until the time of his death on Monday of this week. He attained the age of 81 years, 3 months and 19 days.
He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife Adella; his son, Emil Willis, of Paullina; his two daughters, Mrs. Fernadel Baade of Seward, Nebraska and Mrs. Avadel Grauer of Long View, Wash. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; one brother, Herman of Paullina, and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Schuknecht and Mrs. Freida Straub also mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two children.
Burial was at St. John's Lutheran Church in Germantown.
