Car Accident Takes Life of James Barnes
James Barnes, the 36-year old son of Mr.and Mrs. Rex. Barnes of Paullina, died instantly in a car accident Wednesday evening, March 23, near Fairmont, Minn, where he was living with his wife and four children.
The accident occured as he was returning home from the Northern Natural Gas Company's booster plant near Welcome, where he was employed as an engineer. The station wagon he was driving, crashed into an automobile parked on the shoulder of the road. Exact cause of the accident was unknown. A frosted-over windshield was thought to have been a contributing factor.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at a Fairmont funeral home. Officating was the Rev. Paul Wilkinson, pastor of the Fairmont Methodist church, in which the famUy had membership. Services were also held at the Methodist church in Hartley with burial in Pleasant View cemetery there. Reverend Wilkinson and Rev. R. Roloff of Hartley officiated.
Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Barnes; his wife, the former Ardis Winkelhaus of Hartley, and four children; a brother Jack, of Larrabee and a sister, Mrs. Mel Gaudian, Paullina.
