Lorenz Albert Meyer was born to William and Clara Meyer July 16, 1915, at Germantown, Iowa. He was baptized on July 25, 1915. He attended school in Germantown and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Germantown.
Lorenz was united in marriage to Lucile Jurgensen June 4, 1939, at Germantown. To this union 5 children were born: Donna (Mrs. Harold Butcher) of Calumet,Iowa; Diana (Mrs. Dennis Kessler) of Storm Lake, Iowa; Dorrance Meyer of Collinsville, Oklahoma; Delvin Meyer of Calumet, Iowa; and Dale Meyer of Collinsville, Oklahoma.
He farmed in Germantown area until 1966. He then operated the L&L Tavern for 14 years until retiring in 1980.
He passed away at the age of 67 years, 11 months and 14 days on June 30, 1983, after a brief illness at St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City.
He is survived by his wife, Lucile, two daughters; Mr and Mrs. Harold Butcher (Donna), Mr and Mrs. Dennis Kessler (Diana); three sons, Mr and Mrs. Dorrance Meyer, Delvin Meyer and Dale Meyer; 16 grandchildren; 2 brothers Ray Meyer of Rock Valley and Orville Meyer of Hartley; 3 sisters, Mrs. Elvert (Irene) Meyer of South Sioux City, Neb.; Mrs. William (Wilma) Warneke of South Sioux City, Neb.; Mrs Wesley (La Vern) Niebuhr of Paullina, plus other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
