Funeral services for Norman F. Meyer were held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, October 23, 1996 at the St. John's Lutheran Church o Germantown, Iowa, with Rev. Steven Hayden officiating.

"I Know Who Holds Tomorrow" was sung by Fred Schuknecht and "How Great Thou Art" was sung by the congregation. The organist was Mrs. Linda Brockmann.

The casket bearers we Dale Bunkers, David Richter, Leon Puhrmann, Vernon Fintel, Elwood Koehlmoos, and DuWayne Pauling.

Military Graveside Services were conducted by the Russell West Post of the American Legion.

Interment was at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Germantown, Iowa.

Norman Fred Meyer, the son of Adolph and Ella Schultz Meyer, was born September 19, 1916, near Germantown, Iowa. He received his education at St. John's Lutheran School at Germantown. He then served in the Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater. On February 23, 1946, he was united in marriage to Nellie Martin at St. John's Lutheran Church in Germantown. After their marriage, the couple lived in Paullina for one year before moving to Germantown. He owned and operated Meyer Trucking in Germantown for 27 years before his retirement in 1971. He passed away on Sunday, October 20, 1996, at the Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. reaching the age of 80 years, one month and 1 day.

He was a life-long member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Germantown; being baptized on October 5, 1931, and held various offices in the Church. He was a member of the Russell West Post of the American Legion in Paullina; the D.A.V.; and a long-time member of the Germantown Fire Department. He enjoyed family gatherings, playing cards, camping, fishing in Canada,visiting and talking with his many friends.

Norman leaves to cherish his memory his wife Nellie of Germantown, one son, David and his wife Jeanne Meyer of Archer, Iowa; four daughters, Becky Clark of Germantown, Iowa, Kris Halbur and Bonnie Kabrick, both of Spencer, Iowa, and Vickie DeYoung and her fiancee, Bob Ruden of Germantown, 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law Irene Hammerstrom of Meridan, Iowa; also nieces and nephews; cousins; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was proceeded in death by his parents and one brother, Vernon Meyer [Also son-in-law Tim Kabrick of Spencer]
