Funeral services for Nellie M. Meyer were held at 10:30 am Friday, March 29, 2002 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Germantown, Iowa, with Rev. James Gruber officiating.

Music included "When the Roll is Called Up Yonder" sung by Fred Schuknecht and congregational hymns "Rock of Ages" and "I Know that My Redeemer Lives." Organist was Linda Brockmann.

Honorary casket bearer was Duane Heerde. Casket bearers were his loving grandsons Ryan [Meyer], Steven [Meyer], Kyle [Ruschmann], Kendall [Ruschmann], Justin [Kabrick], Jimmy [Englekes], and Beau [Zorgdrager]

Burial was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Germantown, Iowa.

Arrangements were under the care of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.

Nellie Mae Martin, the daughter of [Albert and] Bessie [Gibbs] Martin, was born July 27, 1925, in Sioux City, Iowa. She received her education in St. John's Lutheran School and later attended Calumet High School.

On February 23, 1946, she was united in marriage to Norman F. Meyer at St. John's Lutheran Church in Germantown. After their marriage they lived one year in Paullina before moving to Germantown. Nellie assisted her husband in the operation of the family trucking business, Meyer Trucking. She was also known as a gifted seamstress, sewing for many people in the area. Before her retirement she was employed at K-Products for 5 years.

The couple's retirement were spent at the family home in Germantown. Her husband preceded her in death on October 20, 1996 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Nellie remained in the family home and has been spending time at her daughter's home in Marcus. She passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at the Orange City hospital reaching the age of 76 years, 7 months, and 29 days.

She was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Germantown and the Ladies Aid of the church, Daughters of American Revolution and the Daughters of American Colonists. Her greatest joys in life were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also was an avid reader and enjoyed quilting, sewing, and camping.

Nellie leaves to cherish her memory, one son, David and his wife Jeanne of Archer; four daughters, Becky Clark of Germantown, Iowa, Kris Halbur of Paullina, Iowa, Vickie and her husband Bob Ruden of Marcus, Iowa, and Bonnie Kabrick of Spencer, Iowa; also 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Paul [Marcine] and Burt [Caroline] Martin of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Pat [Dorothy] Martin of Sutherland, Iowa; two sisters, Laura Wolters in California and Betty [Paul] Winter of Buffalo Center, Iowa also a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son-in-law Tim Kabrick; mother; brother, Danny; and a sister Mary Lou [Henderson]
