HENRY HOPFE DIES AT MELVIN SATURDAY

Henry Hopfe passed away at his home in Melvin Saturday morning, May 21.
Mr. Henry Hopfe was born in Canada October 16, 1853. From there he moved to southern Iowa. After living there a short time he settled near Hartley in 1890. Since 1910 he made his home in Melvin.

His wife [Mary Catharine Boatman] preceded him in death May 15, 1929. After a lingering illness he passed away, attaining the age of 78 years, 7 months and 5 days.

He leaves to mourn his death six daughters, one son, 19 grandchildren and 3 great grand-children. The children are Mrs. Dora Moeller, Minneapolis, Minn., Mra. Robert Barkhuff, Austin, Minn., Mrs. Dell Barkhuff, Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Albert Merrell, Mason City, Ia., Mrs. M. S. Steece, Mason City, Ia., Mrs. May Chesebro, Milwau­kee, Wise, and Mr. Jollie Hopfe, Melvin, la.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Lutheran church, the Rev. G. Goeken officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the Hartley cemetery.
