Services held for Amanda A. Behrens
Funeral services- for Amanda A. Behrens were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 1991, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Primghar, Iowa. Rev. James Mueller officiated. The pallbearers were Dan Benson, David Benson, Burdette Menke, Tim Ebel, Tom Ebel and Delton Sil-berstein. The ushers were Marvin Hoppe and Elmer Otte. The final resting place is [West] Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina, Iowa, under the direction of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.
OBITUARY
Amanda A. Behrens, the daughter of Ferdinand and Emma Hinz Plath, was born January 26, 1906, on the family farm near Gaza, Iowa. She received her education in the rural Paullina and Pipestone County, Minnesota, schools.
On October 7, 1930, she was united in marriage to Hans F. Behrens in Redwood Falls, Minn. After their marriage, the couple lived in rural Paullina and Calumet areas before moving to Primghar in July of 1950. She was employed at the Ward Memorial Hospital in Primghar as a cook from 1951 to 1967. She was then employed by the Primghar Care Center as a cook from 1969 until her retirement on September 25, 1975.
Her husband preceded her in death in May of 1962. She remained in Primghar until entering the Baum-Harmon Hospital, where she passed away on Saturday, April 6, 1991, reaching the age of 85 years, two months and ten days.
She was baptized into the Christian faith in 1911 and was a friend of the Grace Lutheran Church in Primghar.
Amanda leaves to cherish her memory three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathryn and Burdette Ebel of Primghar, Helen and H.J. Benson of Marshall, Minn, and Luella Behrens of Primghar; two sons, Gary Behrens of Sioux City and Richard Behrens of Primghar; Ia., grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and one cousin, John Hinz.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one son; parents; five brothers, Fred, Walter, Max, Julius and Ernest; and two sisters, Gussie Ehlers and Ella Menke.
