Mrs. Hugo Hirt, 77, Hartley, Iowa, died June 13 at Prairie View Retirement Home at Sanborn, Ia. Funeral services where held at 10 a.m. June 16 at Trinity United Church of Christ at Hartley. The Rev. Bernard Sayler officiated. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley.
Mrs. Hirt, the former Lula Mangels, was born May 5, 1896, in Scott County. She attended Hartley area schools and was married Dec. 15, 1916 at Hartley. They farmed near Hartley until retiring to town in 1946. Mr. Hirt died in 1959.
She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and the Dorcas Society, and a charter member of O'Brien County Farm Bureau Women.
Survivors include a son, Leland of Des Moines; a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Darlene) Gipson of Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother, Adolph Mangels of Arnolds Park; sisters, Mrs. Ernest Baldwin of Raytown, Mo., and Mrs. Lillian Alexander in California; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
