George Appeldorn Dies Unexpectedly of Heart Attack

George F. Appeldorn, a resident of the Paullina community his entire life, died at Ward Memorial hospital in Primghar at 3:00 o'clock the afternoon of Dec. 25. He was 70 years of age.

Apparently in good health, the deceased became ill the night of Dec. 4. His condition improved greatly by early the next week, but changed for the worse two days before his death Friday, of a heart attack.

Born in Union township, the deceased engaged in farming until he retired and moved to Paullina in 1942. Among his other public service activities he served as a director of the O'Brien County R, E. A. for a number of years.

Funeral services were held here Monday afternoon at 1:30 at the First Presbyterian Church. Clergymen officiationg was the Rev. Mr. J. Paul Boaz. Guadian Funeral service was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were: Robert Leitz, Ralph Kruger, Martin Knuth, Knute Wester, Don Johnson, George Daum. Honorary pallbearers were: Fritz Meyer, Richard Wiese, Ro­bert Meyer, Emil Petersen, Carl Hibbing and Ernest Hibbing. Miss Elizabeth Bainbridge sang "Nearer My God to Thee" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" accompanied by Mrs. Roy Ewoldt. Mrs. Robert Leitz, Mrs. Don Johnson and Mrs. Martin Knuth were in charge of flowers. Interment was in Prairie View cemetery.

Survivors in his immediate family are: his widow, and three daughters; Mary, Mrs. Maurice Rex of Omaha; Berneice, Mrs. Darrell Peters, Paullina and Gerolene, Mrs. Gerald Rohrs, Paullina.
