Frank Vrooman Dies Monday Afternoon

Franklin Frederick Vrooman, son of David K. and Polly L. Vrooman, was born March 11, 1863, in Baraboo, Sauk County, Wisc, and passed away Monday afternoon, January 17, 1944 at one o'clock at his home in Sanborn, having reached the age of 80 years, 10 months and six days.

He moved with his family first to Steamboat Rock, Iowa, and when he was eleven years old, his parents located on a farm west of Sheldon, where he grew to manhood. At 19 years of age ho went to Venus, Nebr., where he homesteaded a quarter section of land.

On February 22, 1883, he was united in marriage to Margeret Naomi Young, at Oakdale, Nebr.

To this union God gave six children. They are Pluna May, who died in infancy, Marcus E. Vrooman, who passed away March 19, 1936, at Rome, N. Y., Edna Lenore, who passed away in infancy, Mrs. Addie Chalcedony Lumby, of Rosemead, Calif., Mrs. Gladys Naomi Dummett of Sanborn, and Mrs. Charlotte Lillian Merchant of Spencer.

As a young man he united with the Baptist church on confession of faith and in later years he preached some for the Baptist church. He was always an intense believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and the day before he died he sat up in bed and gave his wife and daughters and their families his Christian blessing closing it with the Lord's Frayer.

He is survived by his wife with whom he lived sixty-one years, three daughters, who were all at home with him during these last days of his life, thirteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

He worked for the Milwaukee Rail road for 45 years, retiring from the railroad July 19, 1929. For 28 years he was a member of the Modern Woodman and Royal Neighbors lodges, He greatly loved his family and was greatly loved by them, and a host of neighbors and friends.

Funeral services will be held this (Thursday) afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Glenn Dummett home and at 2 o'clock in the Presbyterian church, with Rev. R. J. Rutt in charge. Inter­ment will be in Roseland Cemetery at Sanborn.
