MRS. MARGARET VROOMAN

Margaret Naomi Young was born February 13, 1866 in Madison County, Indiana. When she was just a little girl the family came west and settled in the community that is now Meadow Grove, Nebr. It was there she grew to womanhood.

She was united in marriage to Franklin F. Vrooman at Oakdale, Nebr., on February 22, 1883. This union was blessed with six children: Pluma May and Edna Lenore, who died in infancy; Marcus E., who passed away March 19, 1936 at Rome, N. Y.; Addie, Mrs. Melvin Lumby, Baldwin Park, Calif.; Gladys, Mrs. Glenn Dummett, Sanborn; and Lillian, Mrs. Floyd Merchant, Spencer.

Mrs. Vrooman united with the Baptist church when a young woman and was active in that church for many years. Her husband was for a time a minister of that faith and she served devoutly in the parsonage of several communities in Nebraska. They lived several years in Oklahoma and in 1904 came to Sanborn. This has been her home ever since.

Mr. Vrooman died January 17, 1944 in Sanborn. They had celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary the year before. Mrs. Vrooman had been gradually failing in health for several years, and spent some of her time with her childien but had maintained her own home in Sanborn until 1948, she went to stay with her daughter, Mrs. Glenn Dummett at Sheldon. Last year they returned to Sanborn and it was at their home here that she passed away early Tuesday, August 1, 1950.

Surviving are her three daughters, thirteen grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon by Rev. S. J. Badwin at the Glenn Dummett home. Music was by Miss Ema Jackson and Mrs. Arthur Rubsam, accompanied by Miss Gladys Barber. The songs were "In the Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Burial was in Roseland cemetery.
