HENRIETTA EVINK

Henrietta Evink, the daughter of Ray and Eunice (Brouwer) Evink, was born May 5, 1926 on a farm near Boyden, Iowa. She lived her youth on the farm until they moved to Sheldon in 1948 and she attended rural country schools. Henrietta was a very caring person and devoted many years to the care of her parents in their home. Besides working for many people in their private homes, she also worked at what was then known as “The Grey Shop”, a woman’s clothing store and then continued to work at Mr. B’s Clothing before her retirement in 1995.

Henrietta passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at the Prairie View Nursing Home in Sanborn, Iowa, reaching the age of 84 years, 2 months and 15 days.

She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon. Over the years, Henrietta acquired fine collectables. She enjoyed reading, fixing puzzles and baking. She will always be remembered for her tasty chocolate chip cookies.

Those left to cherish her memories are her sisters, Johanna and her husband, Jake Wagenaar of Sheldon, Iowa; Eunice Dagel of Orange City, Iowa; a brother, Jake Evink of Bellflower, California; a sister-in-law; Mary Evink of Sioux Center, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Angeline Vander Wolde, Jeanette Mastbergen, Marie Mastbergen, Alice Van Kekerix, and two brothers, Tony and Wilbert Evink.
