Mrs. Anna Gonnerman

Mrs. Anna Gonnerman, nee Anna Kathryn Nelson, the daughter of Christian and Christina Hotzel Nelson, was born on July 27, 1888, at Dysart, in Tama County, Iowa. She passed away on Oct. 18, 1966, in Hartley, Iowa, after a short illness. She had reached the age of 78 years, 2 months, and 21 days.

She attended the public schools at Dysart, and it was there that her marriage took place. On Feb. 12, 1908 she was united in marriage to William Jacob Gonnerman. After one year at Dows, Iowa, they came to Hartley, and had lived in this community since that time. They became the parents of eight children, two of whom died in infancy, both boys.

She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, and of its Dorcas Society. She had also been a member of the Woman's Relief Corps, of the Royal Neighbors, and of the Amvets Auxiliary. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband in 1965, one brother and three sisters.

Surviving are her six children: Mrs. Leona Wackerbarth of Phoenix, Ariz.; Vaun Gonnerman, Gerald Gonnerman, Donald Gonnerman, Moris Gonnerman, and Doris (Mrs. William Nagel), 21 grandchildren, 8 great grand­children, two brothers: Frank Nelson of Garrison, Earl Nelson of Walker; five sisters: Mrs. Tena Heckroth of Dysart, Mrs. Alta Klink of Waterloo, Mrs. Pearl Nelson of Cedar Falls, Mrs. Harold Seeback of Dysart, and Mrs. Bertha Degner of Dysart, as Well as many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and her many friends.

Services were held from the Trinity United Church of Christ on Friday, October 21. Pallbearers were Harold Hoftyzer, Donald Hansen, Henry Wiedilz, Henry Baumeister, Herman Landwehr and Will Huston. She is at rest at the Pleasant View Cemetery, Hartley. Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
