OBITUARY OF G.N. McCULLOW
HAD BEEN IN SERVICE OF MILWAUKEE RAILROAD OVER FORTY-SEVEN YEARS

George Newton McCullow, son of Charles and Louise McCullow, was born at Greenwich Station, Ohio, on Septomber 3, 1850. When nine years, of age he came with his parents to New Hampton, Iowa, which was his home until his marriage.

He was united in marriage with Mary A. Gray at New Hampton, Iowa, on July 21, 1872. To this union were born four children: Cora Mary, who died July 21, 1880; Zaidee, Fred Rich, and Clayton Egbert.

Mr. McCullow entered the service of the Milwaukee railroad on October 28, 1872, and had been in their employ continuously since that time. He would have completed forty-eight years of service in October, 1920, his work having been entirely on the Iowa and Dakota division and at the time of his death was the oldest conductor in years of service on this division.

The family moved to Sanborn in September, 1882, and have since then made their home here.

He is survived by his wife, Mary A. McCullow, a daughter, Zaidee, and two sons, Fred Rich and Clayton Egbert; a brother, E. G. McCullow, and a sister, Mrs. Eva Temple, both of Salt Lake City, Utah. His parents, one brother and one sister preceded him in death.

On February 23d he made his last trip. Since then he had been a great sufferer. He obtained his release on the morning of April 12, 1920. As he passed in and out among us, he made a host of friends who will miss the sweet spirit and genial kindliness of the friend known as George McCullow.

The services were held at the home on the afternoon of Friday, April 16th, and were conducted by Rev. C.B. Bryant, pastor of the Presbyterian church. The interment was made in Roseland. Many beautiful offerings were sent to the sorrowing family as tokens of sympathy and respect.

Out of town relatives and immediate friends who came to add their tributes to the departed were: Mr. and Mrs. F. R. McCullow, of Lincoln, Nebr.; Mr. and Mrs. E. C. McCullow, of Volga, S. Dak.; Mr. and Mrs. E. C. McCullow and Mrs. Eva Temple, of Salt Lake City, Utah; Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Cotant, of Marquette, Iowa; Miss Isabelle Powers, of New Hampton, Iowa; E. Hoxsie, of McGregor; Mrs. Esten Hendrickson, of Mason City, together with many other friends who have for years been associated with him in his work.
