SERVICES HELD FOR LENA MEALMAN

Funeral services for Lena Mealman were held Monday morning, Nov. 16 at the United Methodist Church in Hartley. Rev. William Tomlinson officiated and interment was at the Pleasant View Cemetery at Hartley. Casket bearers were Henry Mason, Roger Ewoldt, Duane Uthoff, Daniel Mealman, Larry Bamsey, Kenneth Ewoldt, Tom Uthoff and Dale Uthoff.

Lena Flora Mealman, the daughter of Henry and Dena Rust Fischer, was born March 9, 1898 at Rushmore, Minnesota. She attended school near her childhood home.

She was united in marriage to Robert Walter Mealman on April 21, 1919 at Minneapolis, Minnesota. They moved to a farm near Hartley. Iowa that has been her home for sixty years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Omega Township Farm Bureau Better Half Club.

She passed away at the hospital in Hartley on November 14, 1981 at the age of 83.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband in 1933 and one sister, Clara.

Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Mrs. Gussie (Viola) Groth of Alburnett, Iowa, Mrs. Deliner (Arville) Ewoldt of Hospers, and Mrs. Walter (Eleanor) Uthoff of Amana; two sons and their wives, Robert Jr. and Edith of Hartley and William and Dena of Yakima, Washington; 18 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, three sisters, Jennie Hieronamus, Mary Elsing and Mrs. Bill (Lillie) Fagemess, all of Rushmore, Minnesota; one brother-in-law, Walter Lawrence of Wilraont, Minnesota, other relatives and friends.
