DEATH OF CHRISTIAN ROST

Christian Rost was born in Weisfaen, Germany, October 31, 1838, and was. married to Elizabeth Dietrick in 1860.

In 1868 they came to the United States and lived in Illinois for a time". They then lived in Benton and Tama counties, Iowa, and twenty-five years ago they moved to Hartley where he has since resided.

To this union was born, Christian, William, John and Charley. Christian and Willam are dead. Four daughters were also born to this union who are, Christina Griffith, Lavina Stahr of Dysart, Iowa, Anna Mina Guenther and Lydia Linder of this city, and Anna Youngblood of Idaho.

On the seventh day of May, 1896, Mr. Rost was united in marriage to Mrs. Anna Brown and the following children were born to this union: Frank of Norfolk, Neb. and Alfred and Clyde of this city. All of which were at his bedside when he passed away except the daughter in Idaho; Twenty-nine grand children and three - great - grandchildren mourn the loss of a grand parent.

Mr. Rost was one of a family of three sons, the two brothers having preceded him to the great beyond. The funeral services were held at the Methodist Church, Friday at 2:30 p. m.. Rev. Tompkins officiating, assisted by Rev. Sievert.

All that could be done to make life comfortable for Mr. Rost was done by all.

Now the weary hands are folded,
And the loving heart at rest.
He is sleeping neath the shadows,
Sweetly sleeping with the blest.
