HENRY ROST

Henry Rost, born July 20, 1868, at Ashton, Lee Co., Illinois, son. of Nickolus and Marie Rost, died March 5, 1951, at the Clear Lake hospital at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 13 days.

He was united in marriage to Mary Meehlhause of Dysart, Ia. on March 17, 1892. They lived in Iowa following their marriage and moved to South Dakota in 1919 where they resided on their farm east of Brandt. Upon retiring from the farm in 1943, they moved to Clear Lake.

Mr. Rost attended the Evangelical Church and was baptised in that faith.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Mary Rost, on January 13, 1951; one son, Johnnie, killed in action in France in World War I; one daughter at the age of five; two children in infancy and two sisters.

Surviving the deceased are four sons and six daughters. They are sons and six. daughters. They are William of Everly, Iowa; Rudolph of Brookings, S. D.; Harvey of Watertown, S. D.; Emma (Mrs. Peter Geiser) of Brandt; Alta at home; Minnie (Mrs. Frank Luze) of White; Rosa (Mrs. Herman Schultz) of Watertown; Hilda (Mrs. Charles Nicola) of Brandt; Evelyn (Mrs. Merle MacArthur) of Sioux Falls. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Mary Benson of Aurora, Ill.; 23 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 4 daughters-in-law and five sons-in-law.

Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, March 8, at 2 p. m. at the Methodist Church in Hartley. The minister from Clear Lake officiated, assisted by Rev. R. A. Roloff, pastor of the local church. Music was furnished by Rev. B. H. Romanowski, who sang a solo, and a quartette composed of Mrs. Everett Selken, Mrs. Francis Glackin, Wayne Muhs and W. R. Wagner. Mrs. Harrison Pike presided at the organ. Pallbearers were Earl Geiser, Harry Landgrebe, Marvin Rost, Leroy Schuitz, Mario Schuitz and 1 Darold Rost. Interment was in Pleasant View cemetery in the family lot.
