MRS. ANNA ROST

Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at 1:30 in the Foley Funeral Home and at the Methodist church at 2 o'clock for Mrs. Anna Rost. Rev. S. A. Kruschwitz, pastor, officiated. Accompanied by Mrs. Harrison Pike at the organ, Mrs. Paul Woodke and Mrs. S. A. Kruschwitz sang* "Ivory Palaces" and "God Be With You." Mrs. Woodke also sang "The Lord's Prayer."

Anna Krueger was born Jan. 7th, 1866 in Germany and came to America in 1884, to Iowa where she spent the remainder of her life.

In 1885 she was married to F. G. Brown and resided in Vinton and later in Lake Park, la. To this union four children were born. Mr. Brown passed away on July 1st, 1893.

Three years later Anna was united in marriage to Christ Rost and moved to Hartley. Three children were born to this union. Mr. Rost passed away on July 16, 1918.

Mrs. Rost was a faithful member of the Hartley Methodist church for many years, serving in the Ladies Aid and the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society, and at one time accompanied a group of Queen Esthers to the Methodist camp ground at Okoboji.

Anna Krueger Rost passed away on Friday, Aug. 22, 1947, at the age of 81 years, 7 months, and 15 days, after an illness of 10 months. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Alvera.

She leaves to mourn her passing four sons and two daughters, Jerry A. Brown of Norfolk, Nebr., Ida Brown of Kutztown, Pa., Mrs. John Linder of Hartley, Frank E. Rost of Independence, Mo., Alfred C. Rost of Whittier, Calif., Clyde Rost of Hartley, Ia.; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, five step children and other relatives and friends.

Anna Rost was a devoted mother, ever directing the thoughts and lives of her children the best she knew how, and even though hers was a busy life, she was a loved neighbor and friend to all, especially to anyone in need. Her memory will long be cherished by her family and by all who knew her.

"A precious one from us has gone,
A voice we loved is stilled,
A vacancy left in our hearts,
Which never can be filled."

Interment was made in Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley.

Pall bearers were Fred and Freeman Rost, Ronald and Morris Rost, Harry Krueger and Clifford Rost.

Out of town relatives attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Jerry A. Brown and son, Jerry J., of Norfolk, Nebr.; Mr. Frank A. Rost of Independence, Mo.; Mr. Alfred C. Rost of Whittier, Calif.; Mr. James C. Rost of Des Moines, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hauptly of Wesley; Mrs. Basil Pickenpaugh and Mrs. Paul Krueger of Fort Dodge; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Madsen of Billings, Mont.; Mr. and Mrs. Lester Mad-sen of Spencer; Mrs. Mina Guenther of Laurens; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Griffith and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Vaubel of Traer; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rost and daughter, Alta, of Brandt, S. Dak.; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schultz of Watertown, S. D ; Mr. and Mrs. Will Rost of Everly, la.; Mrs. Ed Brower and Mrs. Perry Henline of Sheldon, Mr. Roland Rost of Harris.
