Pearl D. Frutchey

Pearl D. Frutchey was born January 12, 1915 on a farm south of Hartley, Iowa. She was the oldest child of Edward and Luella (Muhs) Petersen. She attended rural school in Harrison Township and graduated in 1934 from Hartley High School. In 1933 Pearl was confirmed and became a member of Trinity United Church of Christ. For a number of years she was a teacher in rural schools in Osceola and O'Brien counties.

Pearl and William Frutchey were married June 22, 1953 at the Little Brown Church near Nashua, Iowa. They farmed west of Milford, Iowa. In 1967, Pearl moved to Denver, Colorado, near her brother Orval and family. She did home care for families who needed help. In her later years, she was an avid reader and enjoyed visiting with her many friends at Inglenook Apartments.

She passed away at the age of 87 on April 23, 2002, a victim of cancer, at Brighton, Colorado.

Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Ruby Stoterau in 1979; and her brother, Orval Petersen in 1997.

She is survived by her brother and his wife, Alvin and Lorene Petersen; a sister-in-law, Lolene Petersen; a brother-in-law, Glen Stoterau; eight nieces and nephews; other relatives and friend.
