Albert McKeen

Albert Adam McKeen, son of Samuel and Margaret McKeen, was born in Adams county, Ia., January 4, 1875, and died August 22, 1938, being 63 years, 7 months and 18 days old.

In 1896 he came with his parents to Hartley and settled on the Westphal farm, now known as the Stribe property, and two years later they moved to Hartley.

Bert McKeen has lived in and around Hartley for the last 42 years. His life, ideals and moral principles are known to his friends and to all who have been associated with him. He was a hard working, clean living man. The cry of the needy never came to him without receiving assistance.

For some years he has not been in good health and for the last five months has been a great sufferer. He never complained in his suffering, remaining patient while his body wasted away. His speech gradually failed and death became more and more a welcome guest. Since April he has been at the Steen home where Mrs. Steen has given him the best care it .was possible to give, always administering to his needs and endeavoring to help to ease his suffering.

Mr. McKeen was a member of the Modern Woodman Lodge for over thirty years. He was comforted in his sickness he members of the Lodge, as they endeavored to be a good neighbor unto him, calling frequently that he might know he had friends in his hour of need.

As a young man Mr. McKeen attended the Presbyterian church and after the closing he attended the Methodist church until his affliction.

He leaves to mourn his loss, one brother, William Henry, and family of Washington, also a nephew and sister-in-law, Mrs. Ed McKeen, of Charleston, N. Dak. His parents, three brothers and two sisters, who died in infancy, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held this, Thursday, afternoon at the Foley Funeral Home, who has charge of the funeral, with Rev. E. J. Plummer officiating. Music will be furnished by a mixed quartette. Interment will be made in Pleasant View Cemetery.
