Services in memory of Will Huston were held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 10. 1987 at the United Methodist Church. Hartley, Iowa. Rev. Melvin Amnion officiated. Casket bearers were Charles Schmidt. Moris Gonnerman, Warren Jenkins. Ronald Sterk, Jerry Roth and Lon Vogt. Committal service was at Pleasant View Cemetery, Hartley, Iowa. Military services at the graveside were conducted by the American Legion Post #288.
Will George Huston, the son of Phil Huston and Edna Elliot Huston, was born December 17, 1913 at Hartley, Iowa. He attended Hartley community schools.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Force in World War II. entering into active service on August 20, 1942 at Camp Dodge, Iowa, and served as a Flight Maintenance Gunner in the Sicily-Italy and China-Burma-India Theatres in World War II. He attained the rank of Staff Sargeant. He received an Honorable Discharge on October 18, 1945.
He was united in marriage to Emma Spangler on March 17, 1963 at Jackson, Minnesota. Will has lived in the Hartley area his entire life. He was a self employed truck driver for fifty years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hartley and the #288 Arthur Klrchoff Post of the American Legion. Will loved camping, fishing and gardening, and going south for the winter.
He passed away at Hartley, Iowa on December 7, 1987 at the age of 73. Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Reva. Left to cherish his memory are his wile, Emma; three sisters, Margery Stratman of Honolulu, Hawaii, Mary Byers and Pearl Lyman of Hartley, other relatives and friends.
