PHILLIP HUSTED [sic]
Philipp [sic] Huston was born May 7 1825, in Perry county, Penn. In his youth he was converted to God and joined the church. During the year 1847 he was united in the holy bonds of matrimony with Sahra Ann Stone, who died in February, 1873. Afterward he was united in marriage with Mrs. Sahra Shearer. The first union was blessed with five sons and six daughters.
The family came west in February, 1882, to Odebolt, Iowa, and then to Early, Sac county, residing there for 22 years. Mr. Huston was a mechanic and a professional man as well as a farmer. He did carpenter work, also served as surveyor and worked his farm.
One year ago last March he came to Omega township, O'Brien county, making his home , with his oldest son, George W. Huston, his life companion having passed away. Being of feeble health in his declining years, he was not able to attend divine worship for several years, but daily read his bible and worshiped God in his home. He was a man well versed in the holy scriptures.
He died on Thursday morning, September 5, at twenty-five minutes, past 7 o'clock, at the age of 82 years, 3 months and 28 days, leaving two sons, three daughters, fourteen grandchildren, one brother at Early, Sac county, and one sister in Philadelphia, Penn., to mourn his departure. May the Lord grant them a happy re-union in heaven.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. John D. Schaible, pastor of the Evangelical church on Saturday forenoon at the home and the mortal remains were laid to rest in the Hartley cemetery until the day of resurrection.
