==================
Reginald ReMillardUntil this month, authorities believed Reginald ReMillard, 57, was the first victim of the "Serial Shooter." Reginald, or "Reggie" as his family called him, was shot while sleeping at a Phoenix bus stop May 30, 2005. He died two days later.
On Aug. 3, Phoenix police verified the link between Reggie's murder and the Serial Shooter, according to a statement released Thursday by the ReMillard family.
"We are extremely grateful for the unrelenting work done by all the law enforcement agencies regarding the arrest of the two men in custody for these crimes," the statement said.
The family said they have been in a "prolonged period of mourning" since Reggie's death 14 months ago but that he would have "deeply appreciated all of the thoughts and prayers for himself and the other victims of these senseless shootings."
The family also asked for privacy to grieve.
