Thomas Kramme is Killed at Marshalltown
Thomas Kramme, seven year old son of Mr. and Mrs. E Kramme of Hartley, died Tuesday afternoon of injuries sustained when he was struck by an automobile Monday afternoon about four-thiry, five miles west of Marshalltown, Ia. He received a fractured leg near the hip and a basal skull fracture.
Mr. and Mrs. Kramme and family have been making their home at Marshalltown where Mr. Kramme was employed with a road construction company.
Thomas was struck by the automobile while attempting to cross the highway after school.
Thomas David Kramme was the third child of Eli Kramme and his wife, Agnes nee Maughan. He was born on a farm southwest of Hartley on July 19, 1930. Thomas was baptized at Trinity church on December 18, 1930. Two years later, the family moved to Hartley. He attended the public school her until about six weeks ago when the family moved to the vicinity of Marshalltown, Iowa, where Mr. Kramme was employed on a road construction job by the Hartman Construction Company. Here the little fellow was destined to meet his tragic end.
He passed away at 3:15 in the afternoon of October 26th at the Evangelical Deaconess Hospital at Marshalltown, Iowa. He was 7 yeas, 3 months and 7 days old.
Besides his sorrowing parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eli Kramme, the little one is survived by five brothers and one sister. Robert, Donald, Irene, Eugene, Phillip and Clyde; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W.F. Kramme of Hartley, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Maughan of Tilden, Nebr.; his great grandmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Holten, also of Tilden, Nebr. Other survivors include 7 uncles, 5 aunts and 14 cousins in Iowa and Nebraska.
The body was shipped to Hartley and funeral services will be conducted at the home of the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W.F. Kramme, of Hartley, on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 and 2 o'clock at Trinity Evangelical and Reformed church with Rev. F.W. Budy officiating. Music will be furnished by a mixed quartette. The body will be laid to rest by the side of his great grandmother in Pleasant View Cemetery.
