MRS. LIZZIE ECKHART
A kind and beautiful life left this world when Mrs. Lizzie Eckhart passed away last Wednesday evening, December 14th.
Lizzie Kleppin was born on April 30, 1867 at Traer, Iowa where she spent her childhood. In 1883 she was united in marriage to Robert Eckhart and to this union ten children were born. In 1891 Mr. and Mrs. Eckhart moved to Hartley where they resided on a farm for 23 years. In 1916 they retired and moved to Chokio, Minnesota where they spent the remainder of their lives.
Mrs. Eckhart has been in ill health for the last three years. For the past seven years she has made her home with her daughter living at Chokio, Minnesota. On December 7th of this year Mrs. Eckhart suffered a stroke at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr: and Mrs. August Ahrens of Morris, Minnesota. At the time of her death she had attained the age of 82 years, 7 months and 14 days.
Mrs. Lizzie Eckhart was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Eckhart, who passed away on September 7, 1942, by two sons, one in infancy and Walter Eckhart who died in the first World War at Brest, France.
She leaves to mourn her passing, six daughters: Mrs. Minnie Philiph, Mrs. Bertha Eger, Mrs. Olga Baumgarn all of Chokio, Minn., Mrs. Ida Ahrens of Morris, Minnesota, Mrs. Amanda Dresler of Chatfield, Minn., and Mrs., Adelia Guhl of Hartley; two sons: Harry Eckhart of Morris, Minnesota, and Frank Eckhart of Hartley; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and five great great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Foley Funeral Home on Saturday, December 17, 1949, conducted by Rev B. H. Romanowski, pastor of Trinity Evangelical and Reformed church at Hartley, Iowa. Interment was in Pleasant View cemetery.
Solos were by Cleo Mae Bremer, granddaughter of Mrs Eckhart.
