Services Held Saturday for Mrs. Axdahl

Funeral services were held Saturday. Feb 16 for Christina Axdahl. Mrs Axdahl passed away Feb. 14 at the hospital in Primghar, at the age of 96 years and 7 days. Services were held at the Siloam Lutheran Church of Paullina with Rev. Tim Zingale officiating. Pallbearers were Norman Hill. Ralph Johnson, Arthur Kimblad. Jack Hill. Oscar Fjcld and Bentley Axdahl. Mrs. Fred Cramer sang a solo and the congregation sang two hymns accompanied by Steve Berntson as organist. Burial was in Prairie View Cemetery near Paullina with Gaudian-Eldridgc Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Christina Axdahl

Christian Axdahl, the daughter of Ole and Barbara Hansen Axdahl, was born Feb. 7, 1884 in Haugesund, Norway She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Norway. She was educated in the rural schools in Norway and immigrated to the United States in 1903.

On Nov. 28, 1907 she was united in marriage to Andrew J. Axdahl. To this union two daughters were born, Amelia and Bertina. Christina became a member of Siloam Lutheran Church in Paullina in 1913 and held membership until her death. After their marriage the couple farmed in the Paullina, Primghar and Gaza areas until 1947 when they retired and moved into Paullina. When her health failed she moved from her home and spent six years with her daughters and has been a resident of Millie's Rest Home in Sutherland, the last four years.

She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands: Amelia and Ralph Gilbert of Peterson. Bertina and Myron Hill of Sutherland; three grandsons and their wives; one granddaughter; and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Andrew; four brothers and two sisters.
