OBITUARY

Barbara Christina Axdahl was born near Haugesund, Norway, on December 18, 1842 and died Feb. 23, 1930, at age of 87 years, 2 months, 5 days, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. A. Johnson of Storm Lake, Ia.

She was the daughter of Martha and Hans Helgeland and spent much of her childhood days with her parents. She was baptized in the Lutheran church at Norway and went to grade school and at the age of fourteen she was confirmed in the Lutheran church and ever since she has been a true believer of God's word, and a member of the church.

She was united in marriage to Ola Axdahl at Norway and to this union five children were born, all of whom are living. Two step-children, by her husband's first marriage, have gone to her for their mother.

In the year of 1903 she sailed from Norway and came to the home of her brother-in-law George Axdahl at Paullina, Iowa.

She has been making her home with her children and has acted her part as a mother to them all. Her health has been in the very best ever since she came here and never wanted to bother anyone.

Five weeks ago she became bedfast and since then she has been suffering. Three weeks ago she fell and broke her hip which made her a helpless invalid.

She was preceded in death by her husband three sisters and four brothers, all of whom are resting in Norway.

Those who are left to mourn her death are her seven children. Hans, Mandus and Matt Axdahl of Gaza Mrs. C. A. Johnson, Storm Lake. Ia. Mrs. A. J. Axdahl, Gaza, Andrew Axdahl. Hardy, la.; Mrs. B. E. Johnson, Nemaha. Ia. Two brothers, Peter Helgeland, Woonsockct. S. D.. and Christopher Helgeland. Norway. 14 grand children and 13 great grand children and other relatives and a host of friends.

The funeral service was Wednesday afternoon at the Norwegian Lutheran church in Paullina.
