Funeral services for Orlin H. Popp were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 30, 1991, at the United Church of Primghar in Primghar, Iowa. Rev. Sheryl Hendrickson officiated. The honorary pallbearers were Jim Smith, Gary Shea, Earl Peters, Todd Burley, Dale Reese and Greg Strubbe. The pallbearers were Rodger Burley, Steve Smith, Duane Hansen, Rodney Burley, Darrel Smith, Bradley Hansen. The final resting place is Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Primghar, Iowa, under the direction of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.

OBITUARY

Orlin Henry Popp, son of Rudolph and Anna Jansen Popp, was born January 20, 1929, near Hartley, Iowa. He attended schools near Moneta and graduated from Moneta High School in 1947. He worked in various jobs in the Hartley area including custodian at the Hartley Hospital.

On July 1, 1966, he was united in marriage to Edna Lorenzen in Hartley. The couple came to Primghar in 1976 where they operated the Cat's Eye restaurant until 1989. The couple later managed the Primghar Bakery and for the last several months he was custodian at the Primghar Care Center.

He passed away on Thursday, September 26, 1991, at the Baum-Harmon Memorial Hospital in Primghar, reaching the age of 62 years, eight months and six days.

He was a member of the United Church of Primghar, Primghar Country Club and was past member of the Primghar Chamber of Commerce and past member of the Primghar City Council.

Orlin leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Edna of Primghar; two sons and their wives: Lanny and Debbie Popp of Little Fork, Minnesota and Douglas and Joy Popp of Yukon, Oklahoma; one daughter De-bra Nelson of Eagan, Minnesota; four step sons and their wives: Bill and Linda Lorenzen of Sac City; Fred and Marilyn Lorenzen and James and Suki Lorenzen of Roy, Washington, Richard and Diane Lorenzen of Sibley; two step daughters and their husbands: Barbara and Dave Ham of Sheldon and Fern and Gary Van Otterloo of Milford; 18 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Anna Popp of Hartley; four sisters, Mrs. Louise Burley and Betty Popp of Hartley, Mrs. Lucille Hansen of Windom, Minnesota, and Mrs. Norma Jean Smith of Nevada, Iowa; also a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother-in-law, Roland Smith, and a brother, George in infancy
