Funeral services in memory of Edna A. Popp were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2001, at the United Church of Primghar at Primghar, Iowa. Rev. Ginger Moore officiated. Casket bearers were Bill Lorenzen, Jim Lorenzen, Richard Lorenzen, David Ham, Michael Ham and Brent Albenesius. Interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Primghar. Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Edna Alice Popp, the daughter of Clyde and Lydia Henry Armstrong, was born March 16, 1920 in Waterbury, Nebraska. She attended schools in Sloan, Iowa and graduated from Sloan High School, and went on to attend nursing school in Sioux City. She moved to Primghar and was employed at the Brundage Nursing Home and the Primghar hospital.

On July 1, 1966, she was united in marriage to Orlin Popp in Hartley, Iowa. The couple came to Primghar in 1976 where they operated the Cat's Eye restaurant until 1989. The couple later managed the Primghar Bakery. Her husband preceded her in death on September 26, 1991 in Primghar.

Edna had been a resident of the Primghar Care Center since May 9, 1990. She passed away at the Care Center on Friday, March 16, 2001, reaching the age of 81 years. She was a member of the United Church of Primghar.

Edna leaves to cherish her memory two daughters and their husbands: Barbara and David Ham of Sheldon, and Fern and Gary Van Otterloo of Milford; three sons: Richard Lorenzen of Mesa, Arizona, James and his wife, Suki Lorenzen of Roy, Washington, and Bill and his wife, Linda Lorenzen of Sac City, Iowa; two stepsons: Lanny Popp of Little Fork, Minnesota, and Douglas and his wife, Joy Popp of Hartley; also 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Eugene Armstrong in Michigan; also a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Fred Lorenzen; grandson, David Ham, Jr.; stepdaughter, Debra Miller; and her parents.
