Funeral services for Elwood H. Koehlmoos, age 82, of Paullina who passed away on Monday, February 1, 2010 at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, his service was 10:30 A M. Friday, February 5, 2010 at St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown, Iowa with Rev. Donald Erickson ~ officiating. Burial was in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Germantown. The Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home of Paullina is in charge of arrangements.

Elwood Henry Koehlmoos. the son of Henry and Ida (Richter) Koehlmoos was born January 5, 1928 in rural Granville, Iowa. He received his education at St. John Lutheran School in Germantown. He was called into the Army and was honorably discharged on August 21, 1947 after serving his country.

On August 27, 1949, he was united in marriage to Betty Claire Byers at St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown. In 2009, Elwood and Betty were able to celebrate their sixty years of marriage. The couple farmed west of Germantown for 41 years until moving mto Paullina in August of 1998. While in Paullina he worked six years for Barama Drug, where he enjoyed delivering prescriptions and visiting with people on his route.

He passed away on Monday, February 1, 2010 at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, reaching the age of 82 years and 26 days. He was baptized on January 22, 1928 and later confirmed on May 17, 1942. Elwood was a lifelong and faithful member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown. He served his church as an Elder, school board member and on the PTL.

He enjoyed taking bus trips with Betty to several places in the United States, fishing, woodworking, playing cards, John Deere tractors, the Iowa Hawkeyes, having coffee with his friends and family gatherings. The farm was always a special place for Elwood.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Betty of Paullina; five daughters and their husbands, Sandra and Dale Voss of Granville; Donna and Darrell Nordman of Spencer; Karla and Jim Lammers of Sheldon; Ronda and Deloy Bruns of Holstein and Lisa and Myron Klein of Sheldon; grandchildren, Melissa Brobston, Barbara and Adam Besaw, Sara and Patrick Neary, Jill and Brent Nemitz, Joseph West. Amanda and Darren Huitink. Kyle Nordman, Amelia Lammers, Stephen West, Lisa Bruns, Abigail Lammers and Amanda Bruns, greatgrandchildren. Jacob and Rachel Besaw and Austin Huitink, two brothers, Burnell and his wife, Clara Koehlmoos of Paullina and Lyle Koehlmoos of Granville; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and their husbands, Eleonora and Henry Jalas; Luella and Otto Daum; and a sister-in-law, Jeanette Koehlmoos.
