Will Fairley Passes

Will Fairley was born in LaFayette County Wisconsin, January 24, 1855, and died in Colman, South Dakota, April 3, 1926. He made Wisconsin his home until 1878, when he went to Georgetown, Colorado.

In 1880 he was united in marriage to Amy Short of LaFayette County, Wis. Mr. and Mrs. Fairley made their home in Georgetown, Colorado, unti 1882 when they moved to a farm near Sutherland, Iowa, remaining there until 1907. They then came to Moody County, S.D., living on a farm until 1916, when they moved to Wentworth where they resided for a short time when they moved to Colman where they have since resided.

Mr. Fairley was a christian, and a member of the Methodist church, and years ago sang in the Wellman choir. He was also a member of the Colman Mason Lodge.

He was the best of neighbors and of him it could truly be said that every man was his friend and that he was a friend to every man, honest in all dealings, giving all their just dues and asking only the same consideration from others. To have called him friend leaves a bright spot in our memory.

He suffered much uncomplainingly, having been in failing health for ten years and an invalid for five years. In all that time he looked ever forward to the time that his Heavenly Father would call him to the home where suffering is no more.

He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Estelle Ashby, a grandson, Robert Ashby, two sisters, Sarah Bowden of Isabel, S.D., and Dorothy Smitherum of San Jose, California.

Short funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. L.A. Johnson, pastor of the Colman M.E. church.

Monday morning the remians were taken to Sutherland, Iowa, where services were conducted by the Masons in the M.E. church. Interment in Waterman cemetery at Sutherland.

Those who accompanied the remains to Sutherland were: Mrs. Any Fairley, Mrs. Estelle Ashby, Robert Ashby, Mrs. Sarah Bowden, H. Thonsean, and Mr. and Mrs. J. S. French.
