Verna Louise Flynn Strickland

Funeral services for Verna Louise Flynn Strickland were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 1994, at St. John's Lutheran Church with Pastor Theodore Staudacher officiating.

Interment was at Mount Hope Cemetery. The casket bearers were Jason Flynn, Fred Essman, John Gerhardt, Jeffrey Flynn, Johnny Essman and Kenneth Epperson.

OBITUARY

Services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church for Verna Flynn Strickland, 83, formerly of Topeka. She died Wednesday, June 29, 1994, at an El Cajon, CA; nursing home.

Mrs. Strickland was a foster parent for children under the care of the state of Kansas,for 15, years.

She was born November 22, 1910, in Paullina, Iowa, the daughter of William and Minnie Steinberg Rohlfsen. She had lived in California the past 11 years. Mrs. Strickland was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

She was married to Kenneth Flynn. He died August 30, 1964.

She was married to Leslie Strickland. He died April 1,1974.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Flynn, Perry; two daughters, Ruth Essman and Glenda Scott, both of Lakeside, CA; five brothers: Orville Rohlfsen, Harry Rohlfsen, Ralph Rohlfsen, Glen Rohlfsen ,and Clarence Rohlfsen; five sisters: Irma Bradley, Lillian Hatterman, Edna Sandine, Minnie Halstrom and Helen Schulz; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka, Kansas.
