Services held for Clara D. Wittrock

Funeral services for Clara D. Wittrock were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 1994, at the United Church of Primghar with Rev. Don Morrison officiating. The honorary casket bearers were Greg Hansen, Rex Wittrock, Steve Wittrock, Eric Wittrock, Daniel Wittrock, Allen Rippentrop, Martin Wittrock, Fred Wittrock, Wendel Brown, Jay Wittrock and Denis Brown. The casket bearers were Dean Rippentrop, Glen Wittrock, Quentin Wittrock, Darwin Wittrock, Jim Hunt and Gordon Wittrock. The final resting place is Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Primghar, Iowa, under the care of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.

OBITUARY

Clara D. Wittrock was born June 15, 1893, near Sioux Center, Sioux County, Iowa. She was the eldest child of Fred and Mary Kock. She received her schooling and was baptized and confirmed near Sioux Center.

On January 27, 1915, she married Hugo Wittrock in Lyon County where the family had moved when she was a young woman.

They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary before Hugo passed away on July 2, 1980.

Mr. and Mrs. Wittrock lived their entire married life on a farm located west and south of Primghar. In 1981, she moved to Primghar and made her home with son, Ervin. In June of 1993, she celebrated her 100th birthday at the United Church of Primghar. Her immediate family; numbering nearly 100, was in attendance.

She entered the nursing home in Paullina in August of 1993, and passed away on June 28, 1994, at the Baum-Harmon Memorial Hospital in Primghar, reaching the age of 101 years and 13 days. Clara was a member of the United Church, Faith Circle and Rosedale Club.

She is survived by her eight children: Wilma and Wessel Rippentrop of Harrisburg, South Dakota; Helen Hansen of Denver, Colorado; Donald and Arlene Wittrock of Primghar, Iowa; Arlene and Everett Brown of Denver, Colorado; Walter and Leona Wittrock of Primghar; Ervin Wittrock of Primghar; Vernon and Ruth Wittrock of Ocheyedan, Iowa; and Marjorie and Leon Hunt of Primghar; 26 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Wittrock of Rock Rapids, Iowa; also a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, three sisters, and son-in-law, John Hansen.
