Tractor Accident Takes Life of Marvin Hansen, 18 Years Old.

Funeral Held Wednesday for Farm Youth, 1956 Graduate of Paullina High

A tractor accident claimed the life of 18 year old Marvin Hansen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hansen, at his farm home Monday morning about 10:30 o'clock. Death was believed instantaneous by the examining physician.

Funeral services were held this Wednesday afternoon, at 1:30 p.m. at the Cowan and Gaudian Funeral home, and at 2 pm at the St. John Lutheran Church at Germantown. Burial was in the St. John cemetery.

The likeable young man was graduated with the Class of 1956 from Paullina high school, with an outstanding record in FFA work throughout the four years. He was a member of the Future Farmers of America judging team in his junior year, and an officer of the Paullina chapter in his senior year. In addition to these activities, he took part in speech contests this past year.

Since graduation, he has worked with his father on the home farm, and has worked part-time at Bill's Standard station on Highway 10. A lifetime resident of the area, he was well-known throughout the Paullina, Granville and Marcus vicinities. The Hansen farm is located six miles west and one and a quarter miles south of Paullina, almost equidistant from the three towns.

Marvin was born Feb. 2, 1938. the youngest child of Harry and Clarabelle Samson Hansen [sic], at their farm home. He attended the parochial school at Germantown through the eighth grade, and was graduated from the Paullina public high school in May of this year. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith May 11, 1952, by the Rev. G. B. Eschenbacher, former pastor of the St. John church, now serving at Manning. He was a member of the Walther League.

Surviving him are his parents; one sister, Mrs. Bonnie Cuthrell, 23, of Meriden, and Eldon Hansen, 21, of Marcus. His sister graduated from Paullina in 1951, and his brother in 1952.
