Mrs. Minnie Muckler, 85, Dies Friday Afternoon; Last Rites Tuesday

Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Muckler, 85, were held Tuesday afternoon at the Cowan and Gaudian Funeral home with burial in the Prairie View cemetery. The Rev. L.R. Middents of the First Presbyterian church officiated.

Mrs. Muckler passed away suddenly Friday afternoon at a Primghar nursing home where she had gone the day before to be nearer her physician, who was treating her for a heart ailment.

Minnie Schleede Muckler, the daughter of August and Wilhelmina Neilandt Schleede, was born July 17, 1870 in Pensaline, Mecklenberg-Schwerin, Germany. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. At the age of twelve she came to America with her parents and brother settling first at Dillon, Iowa, later at Gilman.

She was married to Adam Muckler April 4, 1888. They made their home at Newbury for seventeen years coming to Paullina in 1905. They became the parents of nine children.

Her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Lena Witte, Minnie and Clara and a son, Carl, preceded her.

Surviving children are Florence Muckler of Paullina, Mrs. Oliver (Mabel) Olson of Sunberg, Minn , Mrs. Ernest Carnahan and William Muckler of Sutherland and Mrs. Ida Rabe of Cherokee. There are also 23 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Ray Carlson, Clifford Carlson, Arnold Carlson, Donald Kiser, Leon Omer and Orville Hatfield. Mr. and Mrs. Karl Berensmann were in charge of the flowers. Her two favorite hymns "Rock of Ages" and the "Old Rugged Cross" were sung by Mrs. Harold DeJong, Mrs. Marvin Smith, organist.
