Services for Richard Lee Watts

Richard Lee Watts, a resident of the Paullina community for many yeas, passed away at Millie's Rest Home in Sutherland on Saturday, Nov. 12 at the age of 88 years.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 16 from the First Presbyterian Church of Paullina with Reve. A.E. Godlhorn of Cherokee officiating.

Pallbearers were Willard Lubbers, Owen Crosbie, Horace Autenrieth, William Simm, Dan Struve, Jr., Darrell Young and six honorary bearers. Burial ws made at the Prairie View Cemetery at Paullina.

Richard Lee Watts was the sone of George William Watts of North Carolina and Elizabeth Rodger of Prestonpans, Scootland. He was born in Dale Towsnship, O'Brien County, Iowa on October 2, 1889. He had made his home at Millie's Rest Home since May 6, 1977.

He graduated from the Paullina high shool in 1909. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Paullina for many years.

He was united in marriage to Etta Blanche McClure on February 22, 1924 at Kansas City, Missouri. She passed away Sept 18, 1972.

He was a past member of the Dale Township School Board, Secretary Treasurer for many years of the Dale Union Business Association and a charter member of the O'Brien County Farm Bureau. He was active in the Democratic party being a member of the O'Brien County Democratic Central Committee for many years.

Preceding him in death were his wife, his parents and his brother WIlliam in 1961.

He is survived by his daughter, Virginia Jane, Mrs. Elmer Gaudian, four nephews and one niece.
