Gust Gruenhagen, 84, Long Time Resident of Community, Dies.

Gust Gruenhaven, who came to this community in the spring of 1881, died Friday morning at Sioux Valley hospital, Chrokee, of a heart condition at the age of 84.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Gaudian Funeral Home at 1:30 and at Zion Lutheran church at 2:00. The Rev. A.E. Vehling was the officiating minister. Music included "Rock of Ages" and "Lasst Lasst Mich Gehn" sung by Mr. and Mrs. James Meyer. Pallbearers were Waldemar Fegebank, Clarence Kluender, Hillard Mueller, Paul Richter, William Bair and Kermit Jacobson. Burial was in St. John Cemetery at Germantown.

The deceased was born Spet 7, 1875 in Cook County, Ill., a sone of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gruenhagen. Coming to this area as a young man, he farmed south of Germantown until 1935, when the family moved to Paullina, his home since that time.

He was married to Katherine Mueller or May 22, 1904. To them were born two daughters and one son. At the time of his death he was 84 years, 9 months and 10 days of age.

He is survived by his wife Katherine; two daughters, Mrs. Etta Hoermann of Paullina, and Rose of Des Moines; one son, Paul of Paullina; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death of his parents and his only sister, Mrs. Clara Fegebank.
