RICHARD LOWTHER SIMM

Richard Lowther Simm, Paullina, a prominent farmer in this community his entire adult life, was drowned in a boating accident Monday, June 4 while on a fishing trip in Canada. He was 72.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 10:30 at the First Presbyterian Church, Paullina. The Rev. Robert Hickman officiated. Burial was in Prairie View cemetery with Gaudian Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Simm was born. May 21, 1901 in Dale Township, O'Brien county, Iowa, one of eight children bom to William and Edna Levee Simm. He received his education in the Paullina Public Schools.

August 11, 1923 he was married to Florence Anna Rohwer. They made their home on a farm north of Paullina. Three children were born to them; Wallace R., Frances L. and Philip W.

Mrs. Simm passed away September 13, 1956.

On Dec. 6, 1959 Mr. Simm was united in marriage with Mrs. Edna Linder. In 1965 they moved from the farm to a new home in Paullina at 215 South Rutledge.

The deceased is survived by his widow; three children, Wallace and Philip of Paullina and Frances (Mrs. Leonard Koch) of Spencer; a stepson, James Linder of Bremerton, Wash.; one brother, James Simm of Meriden and two sisters, Mrs. Edna Frisbee of Paullina and Mrs. Carl Peterson of Storm Lake; 10 grandchildren, Susan (Mrs. Steve Donnelan), Sheri and Richard Simm, Gregory, Blaine and Kristin Koch, and Terry, Belinda, Amy and Matthew Simm; two great grandchildren, Christopher and Sara [redacted]; and many relatives and friends.
