Services held for Joseph B. Pruss

Funeral services for Joseph B. Pruss were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 3, 1999 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Primghar, Iowa, with Rev. William Wingert officiating. "Here I Am Lord," "On Eagles Wings," "I Will Be Free," and "Be Not Afraid" were sung by St. Anthony's Church Choir. The organist was Toni Bart. The lector was Tony Kauten and the Mass Servers were Jim Schueller and Patrick Sikora. The casket bearers were Joe Pruss, Joel Naber, Louie Hutchinson, Jim Mathine, Paul Kauten and Tony Kauten. Interment was at the Calvary Cemetery at Primghar,. Iowa, under the direction of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.

OBITUARY

Joseph Bernard Pruss, the son of Joseph and Mary Bauer Pruss, was bom February 18, 1924, in Orchard, Nebraska. On November 25, 1946, he was united in marriage to Shirley Thompson at St. Ludger Catholic Church in Creighton, Nebraska.

Joseph was involved in construction in Nebraska and Iowa for nearly 40 years. The couple lived in California for a while and moved to Primghar in October of 1991.

He passed away on Saturday, January 30,1999, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, Iowa, where he had been a resident for the past five years, reaching the age of 74 years, 11 months and 12 days.

He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Primghar and a past member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Primghar; three sons: Joe and his wife, Mary Pruss of Primghar, Tim and his wife, Colleen Pruss of Granite Falls, Washington, and Jeff Pruss and Linda Jolley of Fairbanks, Alaska; five daughters and their husbands: Rita and Jim Mathine of Grapevine, Texas, Theresa and Paul Kauten of Sheldon, Iowa, Colleen and Jay Tanner of Auburn, Washington, Karen and Joel Naber of Primghar, and Amy and Andre Braceros of Yucaipa, California; a son-in-law, Peter Durham of Calabasas, California; 19 grandchildren and one great-grandson; five sisters: Angie Bannon of Belle Plaine, Iowa, Margaret Quackenbush of Waterloo, Iowa, Rosalia Kimble of LaPorte City, Iowa, Joann Cummings of Hazle Crest, Illinois, and Bernie Rayer of Creighton, Nebraska; also a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Ellen Durham; parents; and one sister, Theresa Kimble.
